In addition to my varied commercial art experience as an illustrator and graphic designer, I have taught aspects of art and design in further and adult education for over twenty years. Currently, the age of my students ranges from nine to ninety. Some of them have been with me for many years.
I can offer private 1:1 drawing and painting tuition with advice on methods and materials on an as-required basis. The minimum time for this service is two hours. My charges are £20.00 per hour.
Please contact me by email or telephone in the first instance to discuss your requirements.
I have sometimes been asked to work as a freelance art tutor for informal (social) art groups in the need of some guidance. I am happy to do this, as it is a natural extension to working with my own weekly classes. My charges are £20.00 per hour.
I would describe my approach to teaching art as informed, patient and down-to-earth, with humour added as a lubricant where necessary! I try to focus upon the strengths of each student in order to build their confidence and adopt a positive attitude towards their own creative process.
My mission statement might say something along the lines of helping people to see through the mystique which seems to surround the visual arts, in order to realise their own skills and to enjoy the process of simply drawing and painting.
